South Econ Community Park Design
Orange County, FL
CPWG Engineer Jeff Earhart assisted Orange County in the development of the South Econ Community Park in a residential area located in the southeast part of the county. The amenities at the park include a tot-lot, big kids playground, basketball court, large and small pavilions, restroom facility, shade structures, play field, walking trail, landscaping, entrance gate and other features. The infrastructure design included: site grading, stormwater design and permitting, potable water design and permitting, wastewater system design, reclaimed water, roadway and parking design, and wetland issues.
Construction Plans and Specifications: Staff performed all necessary design, analysis, and production of construction plans for the project civil site, irrigation, and site lighting elements. Drawing production was completed in AutoCAD format. Staff prepared project specifications and special provisions for project bidding.
Permitting Services: Staff coordinated meetings with permit agencies. Permits were obtained from the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Orange County Building Department to construct the project. The team performed site studies for wildlife impacts and handled Gopher Tortoise issues.
Bidding Services: Mr. Earhart prepared and reviewed all bidding documents and specifications for the project. The staff was contracted to assist the County with bid solicitation, response to bidder questions, review of all bids received and provide a selection recommendation to the County.
Construction Administration Services: Staff was contracted to provide construction administration services, site inspections, utility company coordination, site meeting attendance, review of shop drawings, and review of pay requests.
Design/Layout of Landscape Planting Elements: A landscaping plan around the playground, walking path and perimeter fencing was critical to the integration of the South Econ Community Park into the community.
Playground/Picnic Pavilions: The interrelationship between the location of adult recreational facilities, parking areas, and children playground areas was conducted. Picnic pavilions, bleachers, benches and area lighting areas were designed to provide adequate site drainage. The entire layout of the park system was planned, coordinated and laid-out.
