Howell Branch Chain of Lakes Stormwater Diagnostic Study
Orlando, FL
CPWG Engineering was engaged to perform a Stormwater Diagnostic Study of the Howell Branch Chain of Lakes for the City of Orlando. The primary objective of the study was to identify feasible stormwater retrofit projects for impaired water bodies in the drainage basin, evaluate existing and proposed peak drainage flows, provide construction cost estimates, and provided the final design of retrofit projects.
The tasks required to perform the study included the following:
- Collect and review existing drainage studies performed for Basin;
- Evaluate available stormwater infrastructure data;
- Perform field reconnaissance to verify infrastructure data;
- Delineate drainage sub-basins of the Howell Branch Creek drainage basin;
- Estimated pollutant loads in stormwater flow to the impaired water bodies in the basin;
- Identify available City-owned lands and drainage easements for locating water quality improvement projects;
- Identify water quality improvement projects;
- Prepare ICPR model for existing and proposed conditions;
- Calculate pollutant load reductions from proposed retrofit projects;
- Provide engineer’s opinion of cost.
